SANDOVAL — A 78-year-old Sandoval woman was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after she was struck by a car backing out of a driveway on Clay Street in Sandoval.

According to police, just after 8 a.m. Saturday, 73-year-old Natalie Parson, of Sandoval, was backing out of a driveway in the 400 block of Clay Street in Sandoval when she struck Gloria Mason who was walking in the roadway.

Parson told police she didn’t see Mason. She was cited for failure to yield while exiting a private drive.

Mason reportedly fell after being struck and hit her head on the roadway. She refused medical treatment from EMTs but her husband later took her to the hospital to be examined.
