A 25-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to drug-induced homicide and drug delivery.

Khirece D. Tucker pleaded guilty to the Class X drug induced homicide charge and in a separate case one of three Class 1 counts of delivering less than 1 gram of heroin to a confidential police source on March 22 near a local park. The other two counts were dismissed per the plea agreement.

According to his plea, Tucker admitted to selling a man the fentanyl laced heroin that caused his overdose death on November 29, 2016.

Tucker was sentenced to 20 years on the delivery charge and 14 years for the drug-induced homicide. Both sentences are to run concurrently. However, he will have to serve 50 percent of the 20-year sentence and 75 percent of the 14 years, for a likely 10.5 years total.
