MT. VERNON — After announcing to the media Thursday that school board committee meetings are closed to the public, interim MVTHS Superintendent Marilyn Holt reversed that decision on Friday.

The plan was that only two board members would attend committee meetings in order to be more efficient. That plan would’ve relieved the district from having to adhere to the open meetings act, eliminating the need to post public notices and/or agendas of committee meetings.

After hearing from members of the board Holt reversed the decision on Friday morning.

Monday’s committee meetings will remain open to the public. The MVTHS District 201 Finance Committee with meet at 4 p.m. Monday, with the Building Committee to follow at 5.
