MT. VERNON — A Mt. Vernon man was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections Friday.

Court reports indicate 49-year-old Willie Vaughn was sentenced to 20 years each on felony charges of residential burglary and possession of heroin. Those sentences will run concurrently.

Vaughn had pleaded guilty in May to entering a residence in possession of heroin with the intent to commit theft in 2016. Vaughn received an extended conviction due to a prior felony controlled substance charge.
