MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon Township High School’s Board of Education unanimously hired its second interim superintendent at a special board meeting Tuesday.

Dr. Kelly Steward joins Marilyn Holt as a part-time interim superintendent for District 201. Stewart was previously superintendent of Benton Consolidated High School until her retirement. Stewart will be paid a per diem of $600 per day for 50 days, or a total of $30,000.

Holt was previously hired in July and will be the primary interim superintendent at a total cost of $65,000–or $650 per day for 100 days.

In other business, the board: Extended the consultation agreement of former District 80 Superintendent Dr. Nick Osborne; approved a 2017-18 School Handbook; approval to seek proposals for a planned maintenance building; raised the price of school lunches by 5 cents and moved into closed session to discuss employment, pay raises and other legal matters.
