MARION COUNTY — A single vehicle accident on Interstate 57 in Marion County saw two Indianapolis residents airlifted to St. Louis Hospitals on Thursday evening.

Illinois State Police Reports indicate that at 6:18 p.m. 28-year-old Marvin Flores was driving his Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound near milepost 107 whenever he suddenly braked in the passing lane for unknown reasons. Flores lost control of the vehicle and skidded off the road into the east ditch where he struck a tree. Flores was seriously injured and transported by air evac to St. Louis University Hospital.

A 17-year-old passenger was also seriously injured and airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis. Two other passengers, 29-year-old Wuilinton Oliva and 26-year-old Melbin Flores, also of Indianapolis were transported to SSM Health/St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia with injuries.

Marvin Flores was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license and improper lane usage.
