T.J. Howard was scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon on multiple separate felony and DUI cases dating back to 2013 in Marion County.

Howard made headlines last year when multiple outstanding felony cases brought the total cash bond posted on his behalf to $58,000.

He was ultimately tried and convicted in a 2012 case charging him with felony damage to a Centralia Police car but the remaining six cases stayed on the docket for future action.

During his time in the Department of Corrections, Howard was charged in another felony case with two counts Class 2 felony possession of narcotics. When he had served his sentence and was being paroled, Howard had to be transported to the Marion County Jail on that 2017 case. He posted $7,500 in cash bond and the case was added to the six others to be heard.

The court had scheduled for an August 14 jury trial, all seven outstanding felony cases from 2013, 2014, 2015, three from 2016, and 2017, as well as outstanding DUI cases from 2011, 2012, and two from 2013.

However, in court Thursday Howard’s attorney requested a continuance of the jury trial due to the new, uncharged offenses for which his client is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.

The state objected to a continuance and the jury trial remains set for August 14. The final pre-trial that had been scheduled for Thursday was continued until August 10 at 9 a.m.

Bail has not yet been set on Howard’s Thursday arrest for alleged robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
