(DUQUOIN, IL) — The Illinois State Police is confirming an increase in the number of crashes recently on Interstate 57. According to ISP, between May 20 and July 20, crashes increased 30 percent compared to the same time period last year. In response, troopers have been increasing enforcement on the interstate of the fatal four violations: speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and occupant restraints. Those four reasons, they explain, are the cause of most crashes.
