MT. VERNON — A Mt. Vernon man who had previously been acquitted of murder now finds himself charged with unlawful meth conspiracy.

26-year-old Dewayne Moore has been charged with a Class X felony charge for allegedly conspiring with two men to obtain 15 to 100 grams of meth and deliver that meth to a confidential source of the Mt. Vernon Police Department. The charge is punishable by six to thirty years in prison. Moore also has pending chargbes of manufacture and delivery of 1 to 15 grams of cocaine, obstructing/destroying evidence, and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.

Jefferson County States Attorney Sean Featherstun indicated additional charges could be forthcoming.

Moore had been held in the Jefferson County Justic Center on $100,000 bond.
