Champaign County Leaders Want To Sell County Nursing Home ASAP

(Champaign, IL)  —  Leaders in Champaign County say the county needs to sell its nursing home in order to avoid layoffs at the jail or state’s attorney’s office.  The “Champaign News-Gazette” reported yesterday that every single elected official in Champaign County signed a letter to the county’s chairman asking that the county sell the nursing home “as soon as practicable” to avoid the layoffs. County Administrator Rick Snider earlier this week said the county may have to cut 30 jobs to absorb the latest losses from the nursing home. The leaders say they can’t afford to lose that many people from their departments.
