MT. VERNON — A Friday afternoon crash on Illinois Highway 15 near Liebengood Road claimed the life of a motorcyclist at 1:36 p.m..

According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, the accident was described as car versus motorcycle with the driver of the car also suffering injuries.

An accident reconstructionist and crime scene technician reported to the scene to investigate with an initial report expected later this weekend.
