(CARBONDALE, IL) — A Carbondale man was arrested after Carbondale Police responded to what was originally reported to be a bank robbery in progress at First Bank on West Main Monday afternoon.  As officers were arriving to the bank at 1:30, they stopped the suspect who was leaving the scene in a flatbed truck. The driver, David Colon, was detained. Officers learned Colon entered the bank to conduct a transaction, and after a dispute over the transaction, entered an office to settle the dispute with a manager. Ultimately, Colon detained the bank employee inside the office before he left the bank and was stopped by officers. During this incident, an employee believed Colon was armed with a concealed handgun which was determined to be a taser. There were no injuries as a result of this incident and it was determined a robbery attempt did not occur. Colon was charged with unlawful restraint, unlawful use of weapons and disorderly conduct. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
