(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 45-year-old Bluford man is scheduled this afternoon for a first appearance in Wayne County Court on charges stemming from a July 4th arrest on multiple drug and firearms charges. William Robert Hayes was arrested after sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at Hayes’ rural Bluford residence and reportedly located firearms, methamphetamine, a-PVP – also known as bath salts, prescription pills and numerous open vehicle titles. He’s formally charged in Wayne County Court with four Class 3 felonies – three for being a felon in possession of a firearm and one for possession of less than 5-grams of methamphetamine. He’s also facing two Class 4 felonies for unauthorized possession of open vehicle titles and possession of a controlled substance. At the time of his arrest, Hayes was free on $5,000 cash bond in a case charging him with aggravated fleeing or attempt to elude a peace officer. Bond in that case was transferred to the more recent case.
