(Chicago, IL)  —  The ACLU of Illinois says guards at a juvenile detention center in southern Illinois are abusing local criminal courts to add years on to the sentences of young offenders.  The group yesterday accused guards at the Youth Camp in Harrisburg of pushing local prosecutors in Saline County to press charges over minor incidents, like pushing or spitting, that used to be handled internally.  ACLU lawyers and advocates say the charges add years to the terms of young offenders.
