Illinois county chickens out; enacts ban on roosters

GENEVA, Ill. (AP) — Residents in one Chicago-area county should be hearing “cock-a-doodle-doo” at the crack of dawn a lot less often from here on out. That’s because Kane County’s board Tuesday enacted a ban on roosters for most unincorporated property. The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that the prohibition is a response to complaints from sleep-deprived suburbanites about the crowing.
