(SALEM, IL) — A 26-year-old Iuka man was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County Court to 7-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he was dismissed from the Drug Court program and his probation revoked. Ronald Evans was arrested in May 2016 after leading Iuka Police on a chase that reached more than 100 miles an hour. Evans and three other occupants reportedly fled on foot from the vehicle after leaving it in a driveway on Metcalf Road. A search for the occupants ensued, with the Marion County K-9 unit being brought in to assist. While the occupants were not located at that time, deputies did locate a bag containing an Xbox that was later determined to be stolen. An Illinois State Police trooper later found the four subjects walking on Duis Road. They were arrested without further incident. After pleading guilty in the case to felony burglary and aggravated fleeing and eluding police, Evans was admitted into the Drug Court program with the understanding that if he completed the program successfully the case would be dismissed. However, if he failed he would be sentenced on a petition to revoke his probation.
