(SANDOVAL, IL) — The Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that starting July 17, weather permitting, U.S. 51 will be intermittently restricted to one lane in each direction from north of U.S. 50 in Sandoval to south of Britt Road in Patoka. The work will take place weekdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. The closures are necessary to complete pavement patching, asphalt removal and resurfacing, aggregate shoulders, pavement striping, and guardrail replacement. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October 2017. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes, obey all traffic control signage, and allow extra time when traveling in the area. Howell Paving of Salem is the general contractor on the project. IDOT is also alerting motorists that Albers Road in Clinton County will be intermittently restricted to one lane in each direction starting July 20, weather permitting, from just south of Interstate 64 to just north of I-64. The work will take place weekdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. The closures are necessary to complete pavement, patching, asphalt removal and resurfacing, aggregate shoulders, pavement striping, and guardrail replacement.
