MT. VERNON – In a follow up to a story from over the weekend, members of the Mt Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk team served a knock and announce narcotics related search warrant at a residence on South 7th Street in Mt. Vernon Friday morning. Authorities arrested two occupants of the residence, 55 year old Anthony Robinson and 41 year old Sherkitha James each on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Both Robinson and James were transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center for the formal filing of charges and the setting of bond. The warrant was the result of an investigation which indicated that cocaine and crack cocaine were being sold from the residence. Crack cocaine, cocaine, drug equipment, and currency were seized during a search of the residence.  Both are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
