(CENTRALIA, IL) — Centralia City firefighters are calling an early Monday morning fire suspicious after a large shed was destroyed and two detached garages, a fence, and a garden were damaged. Firefighters were responded to a call of a shed fire just before 1 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of South Maple. The fire spread to the north wall and roof of a detached garage on a neighboring property, and caused heat damage to a detached garage on another neighboring property on South Elm. A fence and garden on another property were also damaged. The 20-feet by 20-feet shed reportedly contained building materials for the shed owner’s rental properties. A number of off-duty firefighters were called in to fight the blaze. They remained on scene until nearly 2:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined but suspicious in nature.
