School Districts Still Need Action

(Chicago, IL) — Cash-starved schools around the state have more hurdles to clear, even though the state now has its first budget in more than two years. Still waiting for action by Governor Rauner is Senate Bill 1, which contains the new funding formula that factors need into the way school districts are apportioned state funds. The bill also contains a payment for Chicago teacher pensions that Governor Rauner opposes, so another override battle could be ahead.
