Man drowns while fishing at Kinkaid Lake in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is confirming the body of an elderly man has been recovered from Kinkaid Lake in Jackson County.

The victim reportedly fell from a boat while fishing in the Johnson Creek area of the lake today. His identity is not being released at this time.

According to reports, 911 calls were made around 11 a.m. Friday, with IDNR and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responding with boats and rescue divers. Carterville’s water rescue team also responded to the scene.

The body was recovered around 2:30 p.m.
