SWANSEA, Ill. (AP) — Democratic southern Illinois prosecutor Brendan Kelly says he’s running for Congress in the state’s 12th District. Kelly told the Belleville News-Democrat on Wednesday that he plans to run for the Democratic nomination to take on Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Bost of Murphysboro in the 2018 election. The 41-year-old says he’s running because he feels southern Illinoisans are hurting and no one in Congress is listening.
