(HERRIN, IL) — A West Frankfort man died from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle versus car accident Tuesday. Williamson County Coroner Michael “Junior” Burke says 28-year-old Nicholas T. Smith was pronounced dead around 10:20 Tuesday night. Burke says the accident happened just before 9:50 on Herrin Road at 35th Street in Herrin. Smith was traveling east on Herrin Road when he struck a vehicle that was turning left off of 35th Street onto Herrin Road. The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office along with Herrin Police and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. No further information is available at this time.
