(MT. VERNON, IL) — The University of Illinois Extension Center is announcing a Master Naturalist training program on August 25th.  This 10-week program will have sites in Bond, Clinton, Jefferson, Marion and Washington Counties.  These classes will cover a wide range of subjects that relate to local natural areas.  Some of those areas include:  Urban Wildlife, Environmental Ethics, Wetlands, Soils, Climate, Forestry, Geology, Prairies, Mammals, Birds, General Ecology, Insects and Aquatics.  Instructors will give you the opportunity to get both classroom work and hands on training.  Anybody ages 18 or older is invited to attend.  The U of I Extension is looking for individuals who love the outdoors, have a concern for local environment and want to provide education and service to help your local community.  No college degree or years of experience is required.  In order to register, visit web.extension.illinois.edu/bcjmw or give them a call at 618-526-45-51.  The Master Naturalist program is a great way to connect locally with others who enjoy nature and nature studies.  That’s the Master Naturalist program at the University of Illinois Extension starting on August 25th and lasting 10 weeks.
