(MT. VERNON, IL) – The Mt. Vernon City Council is scheduled to meet this evening. The Council will hold a public hearing starting at 6:30 p.m. on the community development block grant application for public infrastructure.  The regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m.  Among items on the agenda, the Council will hear bid results for the 28th & Jones Streets sanitary sewer project, for Lake Terrace NE Resurfacing, for downtown sidewalk and curb project at 9th Street, Harrison, and Jordan, and for the 2016 street maintenance program material funds.  The City Manager will request permission to apply for Bureau of Justice Ballistic Vest Grant and to contract for a water modeling study. The Council will hear reports from Public Utilities Committee Chairman Ray Botch and from the Rend Lake Conservancy District.  The City Attorney will give a second reading of an ordinance of creating a liquor restaurant license for Funblasters, an ordinance approving TIF redevelopment agreement with Guero’s Mexican Restaurant, a first reading of an ordinance prohibiting parking of motor vehicles on Harlan Road, and resolutions approving application for Illinois Community Development Block Grant Program Grant and approving an agreement with Rhutasel and Associates, Inc. for engineering services on the 44th Street Roadway Reconstruction.  Finally, the Council will give a 7th Street crossing update.  The meeting will be held at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building.
