Judge Expected To Rule Today On Whether To Halt Soda Tax

(Chicago, IL)  —  A judge is expected to decide today on whether to temporarily halt the new Cook County tax on soda and sugary drinks.  The Illinois Retail Merchants Association filed a lawsuit earlier this week, seeking a temporary restraining order before the tax goes into effect tomorrow.  The suit claims the tax is unconstitutional and vague.  A hearing was held yesterday in the case.
