Effingham, IL –Illinois State Police (ISP) District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, announces the results of Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) patrols in Marion and Fayette Counties during June. These ACE patrols allowed the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting, and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs. Authorities issued 13 total citations or arrests and 36 total written warnings including 2 DUI citations, 2 other alcohol or drug citations, 2 occupant restraint citations, 2 insurance violations, and 2 registration offenses.  There were no driver’s license offenses issued during this patrol.  Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.  There is one alcohol-related traffic fatality every 53 minutes in the United States.  The ACE program allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous DUI offenders from the road.  This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
