Forecasters Confirm Rockford Area Tornadoes

(Rockford, IL)  —  Forecasters are confirming what a lot of folks around Rockford already suspected. The National Weather Service yesterday said Wednesday’s storms produced two tornadoes. Both were relatively weak, EF-1 tornadoes with top winds of no more than 110 miles-per-hour. The first storm hit near the Winnebago/Boone County line, the second touched down near Belvidere. No one was hurt, but the storms did knock down a number of tree limbs and knock out power to thousands.
