Nearly 150 School Districts May Not Open Without State Budget

(Springfield, IL)  —  Illinois school leaders say nearly 150 school districts might not be able to open in August without a state budget.  Officials with the Illinois State Board of Education yesterday told lawmakers that 144 districts have less than 90 days of cash on hand.  Lawmakers are trying to come to terms on a budget by the end of the day tomorrow.  Schools are supposed to open in mid-August.
