(SALEM, IL) — Judgment has been withheld in a Marion County Court case that had accused a 19-year-old Centralia man with assaulting a woman in December while the two were viewing Christmas Lights. Justin Prunty pleaded guilty Wednesday to a lesser charge of misdemeanor domestic battery in exchange for a Class 1 felony charge of criminal sexual assault being dismissed. Prunty was accused of allegedly forcing a woman to commit a sex act after suggesting she drive to a dark and secluded area of Foundation Park. The woman then allegedly drove Prunty home and then returned to her own home. She did not report the incident until the next day after she told a co-worker about the alleged incident and the police were called. Prunty claimed the sex act was consensual.
