(CENTRALIA, IL) — Two Centralia juveniles are being held in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center after they allegedly attacked and stole the wallet of a 59-year-old Centralia man as he was walking down the street. Centralia police arrested the two 16-year-old males for alleged aggravated robbery and aggravated battery. The two reportedly struck the man in the back of the head with a skateboard while in the 400 block of South Maple. The man reportedly struggled against the two attackers as the repeatedly struck him in the head and back, with him twisting his ankle in the struggle. The two juveniles were ultimately able to take the man’s wallet and then fled the scene. Police later responded to a reported disturbance involving the two teens and it was subsequently determined that one was a suspect in the attack and robbery on South Maple. Officers were eventually given information that led them to recover the man’s wallet from a dumpster. The second juvenile was later located and also taken into custody.
