Henry County Judge Laments 12-Year Sentence

(Cambridge, IL)  —  A Henry County judge isn’t happy about sending a California man to prison for a dozen years. Judge Jeffrey O’Connor yesterday told Jose Sanchez that he’d sentence Sanchez to probation if he could. The judge found Sanchez guilty of transporting 25 pounds of marijuana back in December. Sanchez claims he was a courier in order to raise money for his disabled son. The 12 year sentence is the mandatory minimum in Illinois for trafficking that much marijuana.
