Blue Cross Plans Return To Exchange

(Chicago, IL) — The state’s largest health insurance company says it may rejoin the Obamacare exchange next year, but the level of the participation by Blue Cross and Blue Shield hasn’t been decided. Insurance companies have until tomorrow to file their proposed rates for next year with the state and a Blue Cross spokeswoman says the company plans to file. This year, Blue Cross is the only insurer offering individual PPO plans and it’s the only insurer offering individual plans on the exchange in Lake and McHenry counties. It’s also not clear how much Blue Cross intends to raise rates next year, in part because of possible changes pending in Congress.
