(SALEM, IL) — Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds is pointing to the efforts and good police work by his patrol officers and detective, along with a 911 Telecommunicator for the arrest of a 17-year-old male juvenile Sunday night on suspicion of multiple vehicle burglaries in town. According to Reynolds, a second suspect in connection with the vehicle burglaries remains at large. Police reports say officers responded to a call around 11:14 Sunday night from the 400 block of South Marion Street with a vehicle owner reporting he had discovered two teens inside his vehicle. When officers arrived on scene the teens had already exited the vehicle and were on their bikes. Both quickly fled from police with only one being apprehended. That juvenile allegedly had items in the backpack he had on that were reported as missing from multiple vehicles in town. The juvenile who was apprehended was released to a parent pending a court appearance, while police continue to search for the subject who got away.
