State Threatens Construction Halt

(Chicago, IL) — The Rauner administration is threatening to bring roadwork projects to a halt if lawmakers don’t approve a budget by the end of the month. IDOT says it’s notifying contractors that construction work across the state will be shut down June 30 if there’s no budget deal. The same scenario happened last year before a stopgap spending bill locked in money for the road projects. This year, lawmakers have passed neither a stopgap nor a permanent spending plan.
