Western Illinois University Wants ‘Private’ Approach To Fundraising 

(Macomb, IL)  —  The president of Western Illinois University says his school is going to act more like a private university in order to survive Illinois’ budget crisis.  President Jack Thomas told a crowd at the school in Macomb yesterday that Western is launching an effort to raise more money from corporate partners.  Thomas says WIU has no choice but to look elsewhere after two straight years of being shortchanged by Illinois lawmakers.
