(CENTREVILLE, IL) — A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with human remains authorities say were found after a Las Vegas woman told investigators her dead child had been in a vacant southern Illinois home for two years. The discovery was made Tuesday in Centreville, a suburb southeast of St. Louis. The woman who called police said she was being held captive by her husband and that he had been sex trafficking her for two years. She escaped Monday night. She also told investigators her husband had been sexually abusing their two teenage daughters. The woman told police their third daughter, 6, was dead in a bin in Illinois. She also told authorities the family moved to Las Vegas two years ago but had previously lived in Illinois. The husband, 34-year-old Jason Quate, has been arrested and has been charged with sex trafficking of an adult and accepting or receiving earnings of a prostitute. St. Clair County, Illinois Coroner Calvin Dye Sr., says the woman called Las Vegas police early Tuesday, telling them her child died and the body could be found in the home’s garage. Dye says police found human remains wrapped in two blankets. Dye says a forensic anthropologist will try to determine the child’s gender, and police are trying to determine how the child died. Police in Las Vegas and Centreville didn’t immediately return messages from The Associated Press.
