(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening. Among items on the agenda, the Council accepted the low bid of $234,698.41 from S.T. Turman Contracting, LLC of Jerseyville, Illinois, for the Lincoln Park parking lot improvements, a bid of $21,900 from Bevis Construction of Mt. Vernon for the Fire Station 1 entry pavement, and a bid of $20,000 from Central States Fireworks for the Salute to Freedom Fireworks. The City Manager presented a capital projects report, requested permission to seek bids for downtown sidewalk and curb improvements and the Marteeny Street sidewalk projects, and to apply for COPS Hiring Program which were all approved, gave updates on the 7th Street Railroad Crossing and on the Public Utilities Committee meeting, and provide discussion on OSLAD grant status and tennis courts. The Mayor presented Pat Carlson for appointment to the Fire Pension Board.
