(MT. VERNON, IL) —  The Mt. Vernon City Council is set to meet this evening at 7 p.m.  Among items on the agenda, the Council will hear bids results for the Lincoln Park parking lot improvements, Fire Station 1 entry pavement, and the Salute to Freedom Fireworks.  The City Manager will present a capital projects report, request permission to seek bids for downtown sidewalk and curb improvements and the Marteeny Street sidewalk projects, apply for COPS Hiring Program, give updates on the 7th Street Railroad Crossing and on the Public Utilities Committee meeting, and provide discussion on OSLAD grant status and tennis courts.  The City Attorney will give first readings on ordinances amending rules for public participation, on establishing prevailing wage rates, and annexing property on Indian Trail to the city of Mt. Vernon, as well as a resolution approving an agreement between the City of Mt. Vernon and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council.  Finally, the Mayor will present Pat Carlson for appointment to the Fire Pension Board.  The meeting will be held at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building.
