(CENTRALIA, IL) — An investigation into the sale of heroin and methamphetamine in Centralia continues following a Friday morning warrant sweep that resulted in the warrant arrests of 10 people in Centralia and one in Salem. The investigation was launched eight months ago in a join operation between Centralia PD and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office targeting the sale of heroin and methamphetamine. According to Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison, CPD and MCSO were joined by the U.S. Marshall Service in executing the warrants and securing the apprehensions, which represent about half of the warrants issued in this investigation. A total of 35 law enforcement officers spread across the city in an operation that in some instances resulted in additional charges when guns or drugs were reportedly found at the scene. Atchison commented that he is very proud of the work of his officers on the investigation and the apprehensions, noting that is committed to making Centralia a safer place, through the enforcement of drug laws, by conducting investigations such as this that target illicit drug sales in the community. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected. Those arrested by noon Friday on various counts of delivery of a controlled substance include: 22-year-old Therion T. A. Johnson; 49-year-old Bobbie V. Wilks, 22-year-old Sunny L. Powe, 42-year-old Precious Jones, 49-year-old Dorian D. Benton, 26-year-old Anthony D. Clark — who was additionally charged with possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 41-year-old Kenneth L. Fair – who was additionally charged with possession of a Firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification Card, 45-year-old James M. Brow – who was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, 42-year-old Demarco O. Bright, male, and 31-year-old Lindsay N. Brandt. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Salem Police Department also located and arrested 40-year-old Jonathaon G. Bryan, of Salem. Additional Arrests made incidental to warrant sweep: Christopher B. Carroll was arrested on an outstanding Marion County traffic warrant and 28-year-old Brandi R. Heck, of Opdyke, was arrested for alleged Possession of less than 5 grams methamphetamine and taken to the Marion County Jail.
