Lawsuit Against Syngenta For Causing Corn Price Drop

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — The first lawsuit over Swiss agribusiness giant Syngenta’s decision to put a genetically engineered corn variety onto the U.S. market before China approved it is about to go on trial. The trial that starts Monday in Kansas is one of tens of thousands of cases across the U.S. against Syngenta. The lawsuits allege Syngenta’s move wrecked an important export market for U.S. corn. They say corn prices dropped, hurting all corn farmers. Syngenta denies it caused farmers any losses.
