CENTRALIA — A Friday morning warrant sweep through Centralia resulted in the arrests of 10 people wanted in connection with the delivery of controlled substances, following an eight month joint operation between Centralia PD and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office targeting the sale of heroin and methamphetamine.

According to Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison, CPD and MCSO were joined by the U.S. Marshall Service in executing the warrants and securing the apprehensions.

A total of 35 law enforcement officers spread across the city in an operation that in some instances resulted in additional charges when guns or drugs were reportedly found at the scene.

Atchison says three firearms were also seized during the operation, one of which had been reported as stolen in Salem.

The Department of Children and Family Services was also called in when a number of children were present at one home. Atchison says DCFS responded quickly and was very helpful with the situation.

Atchison commented that he is very proud of the work of his officers on the investigation and the apprehensions, noting that CPD is committed to making Centralia a safer place through the enforcement of drug laws, and by conducting investigations such as this that target illicit drug sales in the community.
