Illinois House Approves Measure For Tougher Gun Laws

(Springfield, IL)  —  Illinois lawmakers are moving forward with a bill designed to crack down on gun crimes.  A proposal was approved by the House yesterday that would raise the minimum sentences for repeat gun offenders.  The measure is backed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the city’s top cop Eddie Johnson.  The state Senate must approve the bill again before it goes to Governor Rauner.
