Big and Rich are climbing the charts with “California,” the debut single from their upcoming sixth studio album.
If the song sounds familiar, it’s because Tim McGraw originally recorded it with Big & Rich for his 2015 album, Damn Country Music. John Rich is a co-writer on the song, which he tells us is a perfect summer anthem.
“Well, this new record is called Did It For The Party, and there’s a reason for that if you listen to all the Big & Rich records they’re kind of stand alone bodies of work and I think that’s probably something most artists shoot for is to have a stand alone body of work. Our first single, “California,” when you turn that sucker up, man, the windows immediately come down. It’s hilarious because the volume knob goes up and the windows immediately go down almost like they’re connected through a circuit breaker or something but it seems like the fans love it and we love singing it and hoping it’s gonna be a really big hit for us.”
Big & Rich’s Did It For The Party album will be released later this year.
