(SALEM, IL) — A 29-year-old Salem man is in the Marion County Jail after he was arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop in Alma. Steven Schultz was initially stopped because Alma police were aware he was driving with a revoked license. However, during the stop, Schultz reportedly told the officer he was not going to jail and resisted being cuffed. The officer reportedly pulled out a can of pepper spray and Schultz allowed the officer to cuff him but then threatened to take the officer’s gun away and kill him. He continued his threats and combative behavior at the jail. Schultz was arrested for alleged aggravated intimidation of a peace officer, resisting arrest, and driving while license suspended.
