SALEM — A Salem man was arrested for driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident early Friday morning following a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Red Stripe and Hotze Roads in Salem.

According to police reports, 21-year-old Richard Brown was traveling eastbound on Red Stripe Road when he missed the T-intersection at Hotze Road. His car had been traveling at a high rate of speed at about 12:15 AM when it hit a utility pole’s guy wire and then crashed into a tree.
