(CARBONDALE, IL) — A Murphysboro man was sentenced Wednesday in Jackson County Court to 18 months in state prison on a drug charge. Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr says 24-year-old Orlando T. Jarrett was sentenced after pleading guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance – a Class 4 felony. Jarrett will also serve one year of mandatory supervised release once he is released from jail. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies took Jarrett from the Sparta Police Department on March 9 where he had been arrested on three outstanding Jackson County warrants for probation violations. When they arrived at the Jackson County Jail, Jarrett confessed to the deputies that he was concealing Xanax on his person. Jarrett voluntarily turned over 78 pills to the deputies before being confined in the jail.
