(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon Township High School Board of Education met for a special meeting on Monday. Among business during the meeting, the Board accepted the resignation of Vice Principal of Operations Robert Knutson effective June 30. Knutson will be reassigned to teaching duties for Fall 2017. His salary will go from the $91,184 that he was paid as an administrator to approximately $83,000 as a teacher. Knutson’s resignation is the latest in a string of changes for the Mt. Vernon Township High School Board and administration that started with the seating of the new board and has also seen Superintendent Michael Smith resign earlier this month. In related news, the board also announced Monday, that they have approved a professional services agreement with the Illinois Association of School Boards and will pay them $7,900 for the purpose of co-facilitating a search for a new superintendent for the district.
