(CENTRALIA, IL) — A 38-year-old Centralia woman has been identified as the occupant of a vehicle involved in a collision with a Norfolk-Southern train Thursday afternoon on Shattuc Road. According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Jenny Moore was driving the car northbound on Shattuc Road around 5:13 p.m. Thursday when it was struck by an eastbound Norfolk Southern freight train. Moore was the only occupant of the vehicle and she was transported by Lifestar Ambulance to Kaskaskia College where Air-Evac airlifted her to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of injuries. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office says the crash remains under investigation but initial reports indicated Moore was ejected from her vehicle. However, it’s now unclear if she was actually ejected or if she managed to climb out of the vehicle on her own. The Centralia Fire Protection District and Clinton County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency both assisted at the scene. Shattuc Road was closed for several hours following the crash.
