(SALEM, IL) — A semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries when the truck he was driving flipped onto its side Saturday morning on East Main Street near Lackey Drive in Salem. According to reports, as Zach Drummond was driving westbound on East Main, he lost control of his semi near the new bridge and jumped the curb. His truck and tanker first struck and knocked down a concrete light pole, then went up an embankment on the north side of the road before tipping onto its side and landing near the westbound lane across from Lackey Street. Drummond’s tanker was carrying milk from Prairie Farms Dairy but none of the product spilled in the crash. He managed to break out the windshield of his truck and climb out. Heavy storms Saturday prevented the truck and tanker from being removed Saturday so traffic was blocked between Shelby and Edgewood Lane around 8 a.m. Sunday to allow the vehicle to be removed. Drummond said he didn’t see the curve because it was dark out and because of the heavy rain.
